On the performance improvement of an inverted Brayton Cycle using a regenerative heat and mass exchanger

Recovery of the low-temperature waste heat for electricity generation has been gaining a significant interest. An Inverted Brayton Cycle (IBC) is often employed to convert waste-heat while thermal efficiency and specific work output are poor. In this paper, new energy recovery scheme introduced incorporating IBC with Regenerative Heat Mass Exchanger (RHME). The RHME mass exchanger that consolidates recuperator (for improvement) an Indirect Evaporative Cooler enhanced work). Numerical models were judiciously developed where possible condensation in product air channel was accounted for. model validated experimental data cycle investigated various sources (50–150 °C). When compared conventional air-cooling system, current increases from 8.13% 14.36% 10.38 12.46 kJ/kg equivalent 76.63% 20.1% improvements, respectively. unprecedented performance improvement realised exploitation regenerative air-saturation (cooling) mechanisms both cooling working fluid.
